Several variety acts will be performing on the main stage and other locations throughout the convention.  More details will follow.

Friday Night:

Kari with BATMANKari Maaren is a wandering English instructor who has turned grumpiness into an art form.  She has a completed webcomic, West of Bathurst, and an active one, It Never Rains.  She writes geeky ukulele music about Batman, genre literature, and monsters, and in 2013, she won a Prix Aurora Award for doing so.  She has produced two CDs, the solo album Beowulf Pulled My Arm Off and the compilation (with Copy Red Leader) Pirate Elves in Space; she also maintains a ridiculously active YouTube channel. Otherwise, she spends her time marking papers about irony and playing bad-tempered music on the accordion.

The Dandies

Our motto: Silly improvisation, taken seriously

Toronto-based improv comedy troupe, The Dandies, were formed Feb 17, 2012. Holodeck Follies is their monthly improvised Star Trek variety show. In addition to the improvised parody of television’s best-known science fiction franchise, the show features comedic talent from the non-Trek realm.

In 2014, The Dandies were nominated in Now Toronto’s Reader’s Choice “Best Improv” category and featured on the Space Channel’s Innerspace.

Saturday Night:

Canadian recording artist & touring musician Heather Dale writes songs for witty, fun-loving, imaginative people who aren’t afraid to be different. Heather’s original songs tap into world legends, history and fantasy.

As a modern woman with Celtic roots, Heather finds new insight within old material, and cheerfully fuses the Celtic folk tradition with a healthy mix of world music and rock influences. She and the Heather Dale Band are cheerful, adventurous, free-spirited people who spend most of each year traveling around North America and Europe.
