A monthly reading series for SF, fantasy & horror literature! This month we feature Kristyn Dunnion, Pat Flewwelling and J.M. Frey. Plus music from Kari Maaren! Hosted by Sandra KasturI. KRISTYN DUNNION's The Dirt Chronicles was a 2012 Lambda Literary Finalist. Recent work appears in SubTerrain Magazine, Cosmonauts Avenue, The Tahoma Literary Review and The New Guard V. She is the 2015 Machigonne Fiction Prize winner and a Pushcart Prize nominee. Tarry This Night is a post-apocalyptic novel forthcoming Fall 2017 with Arsenal Pulp Press. She plays bass with local heartthrobs Bone Donor. Based in Oshawa, PAT FLEWWELLING is a wearer of many hats. Along with short stories, Pat has several non-fiction, science fiction, and horror books in print, including Helix: Blight of Exiles and Helix: Plague of Ghouls, with Helix: Scourge of Bones forthcoming in fall 2017. She owns and manages Myth Hawker Travelling Bookstore, which appears at conventions across Canada, selling books by Canadian small presses and independent authors. Recently, together with a few close friends, she co-launched a micro publishing house called ID Press; she is also the layout editor for Purgatorium, their first in a series of anthologies. To keep out of trouble, Pat also works full-time for a major telecommunications company as a senior business analyst. Above all, Pat's favourite hat is likely an ordinary ball cap, which she is rarely seen without, since she doesn't budget much time for proper hair styling. J.M. FREY is a SF/F author, and professional smartypants on AMI Radio’s Live From Studio 5. She’s appeared in podcasts, documentaries, and on television to discuss all things geeky through the lens of academia. Her debut novel TRIPTYCH was nominated for two Lambda Literary Awards, nominated for a 2011 CBC Bookie, was named one of The Advocate’s Best Overlooked Books of 2011, and garnered both a starred review and a place among the Best Books of 2011 from Publishers Weekly. Her sophomore novel, an epic-length feminist meta-fantasy THE UNTOLD TALE (Accidental Turn Series #1), debuted to acclaim in 2015 and was followed by THE FORGOTTEN TALE (Accidental Turn Series #2) this past December. The ChiSeries is sponsorted in part by the Toronto Arts Council and ChiZine Publications.
